Big investments have been completed in 1999. The harbor has been restored to be able to let the biggest fishingvessels in. To ensure the quality of the fish and a quick unloading of the boats we have build a cold-storage room of 500m˛ with a temperature of 0°C. The fish is pumped from the boat to the gradingmachine in the storage room. The capacity of the grader is 25 to 30 tons/our. Thereafter the herring will have its final grading before filleting in the filletingmachines. The staff is continuously checking the quality of the fillets. Most of the herring is mixed with vinegar, spices sugar and salt or just salted in barrels, or delivered as fresh. All ingredients are mixed automatically and transported in pipes to be mixed with the herring. In the mountain we have a capacity for storing 15.000 barrels at a suitable temperature. The barrels are delivered to the customers after suborder. 60 % is delivered to customers abroad. Our products are: herring flaps, skinless filets, filets skin on, filets in pieces and bellycut. All delivered as fresh or in barrels. We also produce pickled herring in tins. We are 50 people working with a total capacity of processing 10.000 tons of herring/year and a turnover 1998 of 40 millions SKr. |
